Courchevel musicians ‘look forward’ to private chalet gigs

Musicians around the Alps prepare for more intimate live private chalet performances this winter.

Live Apres Ski In Your Ski Chalet

Ahhh apres ski.

No good ski day is complete without it.

Sipping a warming vin chaud, laughing about your day with friends and a ski boot boogie to a local live band.

The French Alps have always been known for their vibrant and entertaining apres scene.

After a great day of skiing, what better than an afternoon on a sunny terrace with DJs and bands performing until the sun sinks under the mountain horizon.

In January when the ski lifts start whirring and resort finally fully opens again in 2021, apres ski is almost certain to look a little different from what we’re used to.

One thing is almost certain to be missing from bars, live music.

So what lies ahead for live music once the ski season does finally return?

We’re used to seeing wood-clad ski bars and sunny afternoon decks filled with the sound of local bands and DJs.

Since March many musicians have been performing to their fans online, streaming over social media. It’s been a welcome respite for their followers, and a great way for performers to build their profile in preparation for a return to the live scene.

However, nothing beats the interaction of playing to a live audience, the twang of the guitar and beat of the drum that gets you up on the dance floor.

“It’s great to perform with the crowd right there in front of you, the energy and excitement really is reciprocated” explains Courchevel based band member James.

James and his band have already been performing to private audiences all around the world for a number of years, he is looking forward to more intimate live audiences this coming season.

“It’s not just après at home, clients have booked us for marriage proposals, music with canapés before a meal, one client even had us go into all of their guest’s bedrooms to wake them up!”

“Straight from the slopes to your home with bands, DJs, magicians, bartenders and private chefs available to entertain and serve you as you wind down from what the pistes had to offer.” He continues.

And it’s not just the local musicians that have been known to perform in the luxury ski chalets of Courchevel.

In the past, we’ve even heard rumours of world-famous artists including Ed Sheeran and Robbie Williams, and Kylie being flown in for private gigs.
